Hi, I’m Victoria Green, the owner of Green Paws Pet Sitting

My Experience with Animals

I've been working with animals for many years.  I began with volunteering and have been involved with several local animal rescue organizations,  including the Humane Society of Sonoma County, for more than 20 years, working in various capacities with both cats and dogs.   I started my own pet sitting business  in 2013 and since then, I've logged approximately 1000 miles exercising dogs and 450 hours exercising cats (and counting...), plus numerous hours of behavioral assessments for both dogs and cats as part of my volunteer work.

When I’m pet sitting, I love taking photos and videos of the pets I'm caring for so their pet parents can see how the visit went.

I have one cat named Gray. I'm also a former artist, a graduate of UCB, and a long-time resident of Sonoma County.

How Loose Ligaments Contributed to a Novel Idea.

A few years ago I ended up spraining my ankle in two places. It was such a bad sprain that the doctor thought my foot was broken and I had to use crutches for several weeks. Luckily it wasn't broken, but my ankle took a long time to recover. The orthopedist told me that I had “loose ligaments” and that my ankles would always turn easily. Because of this, I started running dogs by scooter to prevent further injury to my ankles.

Another benefit to running dogs this way: speed. Unless you're a fast runner you can go faster on a scooter than you can on foot:)

Exercise: The Essence of the Green Paws’  Approach

It started for me with cats. I had been exercising my own cats since I was a kid, and I later took that into my work at animal shelters. I noticed that when I played vigourously with cats using interactive toys they would be calmer and seemingly happier.  I also noticed that they came to trust me more and bond with me.

I believe that regular activity is intrinsic and necessary for a pet's well-being. I love helping your pet do something that is fun for them, makes them more at ease, and in turn, contributes to their overall health.
